Margaret Martin was born c1851 in Ireland, but her baptism has never been found. Her father James Martin (son of Robert) was a soldier in the 6th Enniskillin Dragoons, and discharged 13.07.1852. He was married (eventually) to Catherine Elliott of Shilton, by whom he produced Louisa Martin c1841.... he was found guilty at military Courts Martial in 1847 for 'claiming to be a married man, and attempting to deceive his Commanding Officer'.... within days, on 03.05.1847, he was let out of the 'glass house' to be married at Longford, Ireland!
