Thankyou for this message board. I've just posted this in reply to an earlier message but it's near the bottom of the list and may not get seen. I'm looking (desperately!) for ROULSTON(E)s in Burton on Trent.

My grandfather's sister, Mary Jane NORTON (born Jan 1861) married Arthur William ROULSTON, butcher, in Burton on Trent, 2 Dec 1883. (Arthur was born c1857, Netherseal, s/o William & Maria).

I have been unable to find Arthur & Mary in both 1891 and 1901, although I have at last found one of their children. Their 14-yr-old daughter, Hannah Maria ROULSTON, was living with Mary Jane's sister & family (Alfred & Margaret CHATFIELD - indexed as CHARFIELD) in Horninglow, Burton, in 1901.

This led me to her birth certificate: Hannah Maria ROULSTON, b 5 June 1886, 34 Uxbridge Street, Burton Extra. Father: William Arthur ROULSTON, Butcher (master) (He was Arthur Wm when they married!) Hannah & any siblings were my Dad's 1st cousins so I'm desperate to find their families!
