I am seeking any information as to the origins of the following:
ALEXANDER ROULSTON, of Wellington, New Zealand., Born c. 1842 at Londonderry, Co. Derry, Ireland. Immigrated to New Zealand, before 1870. M 31 Dec. 1870 at Brighton, Westland, New Zealand, Anne Hardy. He was listed as a "Storekeeperî" at Brighton, Westland, in the Westland Electoral Rolls, 1871-1876.
He was listed in Wises Post Office Directory as a "Teacher"at Kanieri, Westland, 1878/9; as a "Schoolmaster" from 1879 to 1885 at German Bay (now called Takamatua), Banks Peninsula, Canterbury & from 1886 to 1888 at Mt. Grey Downs, North Canterbury.
Recorded as "Alexander Roulston, German Bay"he was adjudged bankrupt, 17 Dec. 1884. By 1894/5 he was recorded in Wiseís Directory as a ìLabourerî living at Evelyn Street, Wellington & from 1898/9 at 5 Stafford Street, Wellington. He was admitted to Mount View Mental Hospital, 30 Aug. 1906; & was later transferred to Porirua Mental Hospital, 23 May 1910; where he remained until his death. Died 15 Nov. 1917 at Porirua, Wellington, New Zealand. Bur. Porirua Cemetery, Wellington.
Unfortunately I have no exact birthdate or the names of his parents.
Any assistance in tracing his origins would be very much appreciated.
